Dear Department of Internal Affairs,
I applied to immigrate to New Zealand in 2018 and my marital status at that time is legally separated. I went to NZ and got my resident visa in 2020. My marital status in my original country changed to divorced after that. May I ask do I need to update my marital status and what department should I contact with? INZ or DIA or others? Thanks a lot.
Yours faithfully,
W

Tçnâ koe W,
I have consulted with the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (regarding Immigration NZ, which is part of that Ministry) and am advised that you should notify a marital status change if it occurs, as this is relevant for visa applications. Please contact Immigration NZ directly to do this.
