Council owned public facilities

Tim made this Official Information request to Matamata-Piako District Council

The request was refused by Matamata-Piako District Council.

From: Tim

Dear Matamata-Piako District Council,

I request a list of all buildings owned by council that are public spaces, and their status on if they have been assessed for earthquake standards such as the NBS, or if they have not been assessed.

An excel spreadsheet would be fine to present the information.

If the council does not hold information on this, please provide the information on which buildings have been assessed and what their NBS rating is.

Yours faithfully,

Tim

Matamata-Piako District Council

Dear Tim

I refer to your official information request dated 05 May 2021 for a list
of all buildings owned by council that are public spaces, and their status
on if they have been assessed for earthquake standards such as the NBS, or
if they have not been assessed.

We have decided to refuse your request under section 17(f) of the Local
Government Official Information and Meetings Act, that the information
cannot be made available without substantial collation or research.
Council has a register of our buildings but there is over a 1000 entries
in this register, not all of the information is Council related, some is
information Council has received in relation to private buildings, it
would take staff hours to go through each entry and identify the
information requested while sifting out the unnecessary information.

If you are interested in a particular building or lot of buildings please
let us know and we will be able to provide what information we have.

If you are dissatisfied with the information received, you have the right,
by way of making a complaint to an Ombudsman (under section 27(3) of the
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987), to seek an
investigation and review of Council’s decision, more information on this
process can be found at [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

Kind Regards
Ellie
