Ryan Thomas made this Official Information request to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children

The request was successful.

From: Ryan Thomas

Dear Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children,

Could we please be made aware of the costs involved to the taxpayer in regards to xmas parties this year? Wether this be directly funding parties or allowing staff paid time off.

Yours faithfully,

Ryan Thomas

IN-CONFIDENCE

Dear Mr Thomas

Thanks for your follow up. There is no delay, but the reason there may seem to be is that you may not be aware that under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) the period from 25 December - 15 January in the following year are not considered working days for the purposes of the Act. You may be interested to know that the website of the Office of the Ombudsman https://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/ has an OIA calculator which takes into account all the days that are not considered working days under the OIA and gives a date when a request should be responded to by. We received your request on 16 December 2020, so a response is due to you by 4 February 2021. We will of course try to respond sooner if we can.

Kind regards,
