KiwiRail can advise that our fleet of DC class locomotives continue to
provide services for us in both the North and South Island, particularly
where lighter trains are required.

We are currently embarking on a fleet replacement program for mainline
locomotives, largely focused on the South Island.

The procurement for this fleet is currently underway, and we are expecting
to announce the successful supplier sometime in the middle of 2021. We are
working on the long-term plan for the remainder of the DC locomotive
fleet, which may include retirement (many have been retired already) or
continued use in a limited capacity.
