James Shaw: Philathropy or Political Interference?
Revanche Tapp made this Official Information request to James Shaw
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Revanche Tapp to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Revanche Tapp
Dear James Shaw,
I was very concerned to read about the sort of behaviour (yours) that led to the establishment of the Green School in Taranaki. It was nothing less than swaggering gansterism.
I became concerned about who you might really be, or who you might really be working for; this did not seem like a typical Green Party initiative, or the sort of initiative that had caused me to sign up to the Green Party at its Inception, now many moons ago.
I was disturbed, then, to come across, in my review of your credibility, an Official Information Act (OIA) request that provided another example of your apparently easy recourse to lies.
On April 27 2019, your team responded to an OIA request headed on FYI: "Green Party and the Omidyar Network" that "Hon James Shaw has not met Pierre Omidyar, the Omidyar Network, or any other body funded by Silicon Valley billionaire Pierre Omidyar since the 2017 general election."
However, I contend that you have known and met with lobbyists for Pierre Omidyar frequently, before and after the request to which I refereed. In fact, Agents of Pierre Omidyar, or those who work for organizations funded by him, have been at your side at many crucial political moments, since: Leroy Beckett, by your side when you met for a silver service breakfast with United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres; and Laura O'Connell Rapira, at your side when the Black Lives Matter rallies came to Parliament in Wellington.
I request a list of all philanthropic and advocacy organizations that you have met with personally, or in your capacity as a Minister, or in the capacity of some other role, since the 2017 General Election.
And I also ask why you lied in response to the April 27 2019 OIA request made via FYI.
Yours faithfully,
Revanche Tapp
