Fake Website Filters
Mason made this Official Information request to Department of Internal Affairs
The request was successful.
From: Mason
Dear Department of Internal Affairs,
I recently requested some information from the DIA about the DCEFS, and Mr Craig Press answered my questions. He also mentioned that the DIA is aware of a number of internet scams in the form of fake filtering and blocking pages, similar to what the DCEFS does. Mr Press said that these prevent a user viewing a webpage, and have no origin or jurisdiction from 'official' filtering systems or organisations in New Zealand. If you could give some more information about these scams, such as how they occur, if they pose any threat and if they can harm the viewer of them it would be very much appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Mason
