Staff working from home
Rose Calix made this Official Information request to Department of Internal Affairs
The request was successful.
From: Rose Calix
Dear Department of Internal Affairs,
Under the Official Information Act 1982, we are making this request.
We have learnt that a number of your staff are working from home and are only required to report to office once a fortnight, In this regard can you please provide how many to date are on that arrangement, what their roles are and how do you ensure the public that these officials are really working for the hours that we are paying them for. Is it also true that some of them are even claiming overtime pay, while working at the comforts of their home,
We are not against people working from home, but we just find that it is a ridiculous idea that a government public servant is only require to report to office once a fortnight. Is this a reflection that your working condition at the office is not safe at all, hence allowing your staff to work almost all the days of the month from the comforts of their home. Is this the example you want to set for other government agencies to follow, Is this practice aligned with SSCs expectations with regard to working from home?
Yours faithfully,
Rose Calix
