The right to choose not to be immunised against Covid-19
M.R.M. made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
The request was successful.
From: M.R.M.
Dear Ministry of Health,
According to published news reports today (11 August 2020) the Ministry of Health has started planning for how to immunise the population and is working out which groups would be first.
I am part of the population. I choose not to be immunised. So do certain members of my near and extended family.
Forcing an individual to be vaccinated would be a violation of their fundamental right to personal autonomy - which informs the more specific right to bodily integrity - and I am asking the Ministry of Health to provide me with copies of the latest government and in particular Ministry of Health produced information available on the right to choose not to be immunised against Covid-19 and how this will fit with the apparent decision to immunise the population.
My preference is for the OIA requested information abovementioned to be published at the FYI website.
Yours faithfully,
L M (Mrs).

Dear Ministry of Health,
Thank you for this informative and helpful response.
I am though wondering how you came to use my wife's initials when it was me who made the request and not her. In particular, how did you know my wife's initials and that she is related to me?
Yours faithfully,
M.R.M.

I wouldn't take any comfort in what was said in the following link by Hon Dr DAVID CLARK, who said "I have seen that advocated. I don't agree with Mr Luxon on that point. I would note also that there is provision to refuse medical treatment under the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act."
https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/hansard-...
Keep in mind that they had no problem overruling and trashing Section 18 of the Bill of Rights Act, by restricting freedom of movement when they locked everyone down to their homes in March/April and when blocking roads in Auckland's second lockdown.
The Bill of Rights in NZ frankly mean nothing as it doesn't take precedence over any other Acts.
