Dear Whangarei District Council,

I am seeking information on the Matapouri to Whale Bay walk and in particular the unfenced, unsigned lookout.

I have been advised by the parks officer that the safety of the lookout has been debated at length and that fences have been considered. However the decision has been made that fence would impact the view.

I am looking for all information related to the consideration of public safety at the lookout. This Includes All records, fencing feasibility reports, signage, meeting minutes and hazard risk register notes where the safety and lookout hazards have been discussed.

I would also like to know how many other complaints or concerns raised on this matter and whether there are any other safety incidents.
