Thank you for contacting the office of Hon David Parker, Attorney General,
Minister for the Environment, Minister for Trade and Export Growth, and
Associate Minister of Finance.

Please note that as Minister Parker receives large amounts of
correspondence, it is not always possible to personally reply to all
emails.

The following guidelines apply:

¡¤       If your email is an invitation or request to meet with the
Minister, your request will be processed and a staff member will be in
contact in due course. As the Minister receives a high volume of
invitations, it is not always possible to respond immediately.¡¡

¡¤       Media queries will be responded to by a staff member.

¡¤       Requests for official information will be managed in accordance
with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, which may
include a transfer to a more relevant Minister or agency.¡¡

¡¤       If your email falls outside of the Minister¡¯s portfolio
responsibilities, your correspondence may be transferred to another
office.

¡¤       If your email expresses a personal view, or is copied to multiple
Members of Parliament, then your opinion will be noted and there may be no
further response.

Regards

Dear BAW Russell

I refer to your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
on 26 June 2020 to the Attorney-General for the following:

“I request all advice you have received on responding to declarations of
inconsistency issued by the courts in relation to the Bill of Rights Act.”

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we receive your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time of 10 working
days to make our decision.

This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot be
reasonably made within the original time limit. Consultation needed to
make decisions on these documents will be undertaken and a response
provided to you as soon as reasonably practicable.

Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review this decision to extend this request. The contact details for the
Ombudsman can be located at [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone
0800 802 602.

Regards
