Please supply, for the 2012-2013 financial year, the number of
Council employees who were paid less than $18.40 per hour for their
work.

Please include part time and temporary staff, but exclude staff of
third party businesses providing contracted services to Council,
and elected representatives.

Please break down the number of employees into the following age
brackets:

a) under 18 years old
b) 18-24 years old
c) 25-34 years old
d) 35-44 years old
e) 45-54 years old
f) 55-64 years old
g) over 64 years old

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
fyi.org.nz website.

Official Information Request regarding the number of Council Staff earning
less than $18.40 an hour, either through the Telephone Operators or the
Democracy Team, which handles these matters.

Dear Alex,

I have been advised that the information relating to current staff members earning less than $18.40 will be relatively straightforward to collate. This will be provided to you as soon as possible.

However, to provide the entire 2012 – 2013 financial year data will take some time. Hamilton City Council staff will have to go back to the old payroll system. This system does not readily supply historical data and it will take some time for the staff to go through it entirely to extract the relevant information. Consequently, it is likely that if we have to do this we would be looking to charge for the hours it will take.

Please would you let me know whether current data is sufficient or whether you would like to proceed with your original request for the data in respect of 2012-13 Financial Year.

Further to your Official Information Request regarding the number of
Hamilton City Council Staff earning less than $18.40 an hour, the
information is provided as follows:

 

251 people are paid less than $18.40. 

 

Many of these roles are casual/part time and are mostly based in the pools
and theatres.
