Dear Tom,

I refer to your requests for information received on 10 January 2020:

Can you please provide the annual rent role for the Carey Street Council
Housing for the financial years as follows:

2015-2016

2016-2017

2017-2018

2018-2019

And on 30 January 2020:

Can you please provide data on the annual maintenance cost for all of the
Council's residential property holdings at Carey Street ?

Council Response

The Council will provide the information it holds in relation to your
first request. This is currently being finalised and we will send it to
you as soon as possible.

Regarding the second request, for your information, the Carey Street
complex was closed in July 2019 so only minimal maintenance undertaken
(keeping it tidy). The amount also doesn’t take into account any reactive
maintenance that the OCHT may have undertaken prior to closure.

Since 1 January 2019, we have spent $4,304.37 on maintenance as per
attached.

Breakdown –

•             Garden maintenance for VUT units (prior to the complex being
closed) - $2,537.69

•             SMP for grounds maintenance - $874.00

•             Removing letterboxes - $373.00

•             Fence repairs (private owner boundary) - $156.01

•             Re-securing buildings following break-ins - $363.67

You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
Complaints can be sent by email to [1][email address], by fax
to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington
6143.

Dear Tom,

Further to my response on 11 February 2020, I can now respond to your
initial question:

Can you please provide the annual rent role for the Carey Street Council
Housing for the financial years as follows:

2015-2016

2016-2017

2017-2018

2018-2019

The Council only holds part of this information as follows:

Financial Year:

FY 2016 is $184,582.81.

The broken period of rent for Carey Street Housing complex 1 July to 2 Oct
2016 (when it was transferred to OCHT) was $45,328.36.

Calendar Year:

1 Jan to 31 Dec 2015 = $177,371.13

1 Jan to 02 Oct 2016 = $137,360.67

The difference between Financial vs Calendar is an additional six month
reporting period for calendar year.

We do not hold any information after this period as the responsibility
moved to OCHT.

You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
Complaints can be sent by email to [1][email address], by fax
to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington
6143.

Kind regards,

Sean
