Official information act
Margaret Mechum made this Official Information request to Waitemata District Health Board
The request was partially successful.
From: Margaret Mechum
Dear Waitemata District Health Board,
I refer you to Radio New Zealand's story on 5 November 'Nurses say gynaecology patients' rights were breached' (https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/4048...).
According to the story: "Waitematā DHB did not tell RNZ about these interactions with the Nurses Organisation, despite them being within the scope of an Official Information Act request"
I request under the Official Information Act 1982 all available information from the DHB about why the DHB did not provide RNZ with information about interactions with the NZNO relating to their concerns on informed consent.
I request all information held relating to this matter, including the recollections of DHB staff responsible for the decision.
Yours faithfully,
Margaret Mechum

Waitemata District Health Board
Dear Margaret
Thank you for your Official Information Act request, received today as a
partial transfer from the Ministry of Health regarding transgender
children and young people.
We will provide a formal response to your request within the 20 working
days allowed under the Act.
If for any reason we are unable to meet this deadline and need to extend
the timeframe for your response, we will be in touch to advise why this
has been necessary and to indicate when your response will be ready.
Please note that Waitematâ DHB, like other agencies across the state
sector, supports the open disclosure of information to assist the public’s
understanding of how we are delivering publicly-funded healthcare. This
includes the proactive publication of anonymised Official Information Act
responses on our website from 10 working days after they have been
released.
If you feel that there are good reasons why your response should not be
made publicly available, we will be happy to consider this.
Please be aware that the OIA system is on-hold nationally between COB 24
December 2019 and 15 January 2020.
Kind regards,
Denise Poole I Official Information Act Manager
