Dear John,
Tourism New Zealand is the government agency responsible for attracting high-value visitors to New Zealand. We do this by carefully focusing on a number of key markets around the world, and a select group of consumers within those key markets.
To help achieve this, we work offshore to encourage our target market to visit New Zealand as their next holiday destination. We also train those who sell New Zealand (such as travel agents) to have the knowledge and understanding to do so.
On the 18 November 2019 you requested the following information under the Official Information Act. We have provided answers to your questions below:
1. I would like to request the salary band for all international posts you have outside of NZ and their relevant benefit documents, (e.g. medical/international travel/accommodation etc.) for example, beside their salary, what else they will get/ peaks etc.
2. Also, can I ask the org chart for your people within China as well.
3. Further, if possible, I would like to ask the salary band for the local posts as well (people based in NZ).
Tourism New Zealand has 13 offices around the globe. We do not appoint international posts into offshore roles in the same way that other global organisations might do that you might be familiar with like MFAT, therefore we cannot provide you with salary bands for international posts. Sometimes we might support a staff member to relocate offshore and this process is outlined in our relocation policy which is attached. Please note that the name of the relocation company we use has been withheld for commercial sensitivity under section 9 (2) b ii.
For General Manager roles that are based offshore, we may provide an expat package and we currently have one of these in place. Because there is only one of these, we are withholding releasing the package details of this under section 9 2 (a) to protect the privacy of natural persons.
