Livestock population data from NAIT
Andrew Tipton made this Official Information request to Ministry for Primary Industries
The request was refused by Ministry for Primary Industries.
From: Andrew Tipton
Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,
I would like to request livestock population data from the NAIT database. I understand that NAIT has records of all cattle and deer within New Zealand, and that this database records both the age of the animal and the current location of the animal. I further understand that, although the NAIT database is administered by a separate organisation, MPI has direct access to the database for the purpose of generating statistical information.
I am seeking the following data for each animal in NAIT:
1. Animal type (dairy cattle, beef cattle, other cattle, or deer)
2. Date of birth
3. Date of death and/or slaughter
4. Current location of the animal
Note that I specifically do not want any personal information, such as the animal's tag number or the name/address of the animal's current owner.
Due to the expected volume of data (as there are over 12 million live animals in the NAIT database) it would be best if you could provide this information in electronic format such as a CSV data file.
Kind regards,
Andrew Tipton
