Kia ora Rebecca,

Thanks for your e-mail. Given the fairly narrow scope of the request in terms of themes, I would expect the reply is tendered within 20 working days, in accordance with section 15(1) of the Act.

Dear Mr McDonald,

I refer to your request of 1 October 2019 under the Official Information Act, as amended on 3 October. Consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot be made by today’s date. Accordingly the time limit for the University’s response has been extended under section 15A of the Official Information Act until 8 November 2019. You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about this extension.

Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Ewert
General Counsel

Kia ora Ms Ewert,

I refer to your correspondence of 1 November 2019 informing me of an extension to my OIA request tendered on 1 October 2019, to 8 November.

I have not received the information pursuant to the Act and am writing to you to inform you I will be passing this on to the Ombudsman for an immediate investigation pursuant to s28A of the OIA.

It is disappointing to see such a bad-faith response by the University of a matter of significant importance, through more undue delay.

If undue delay continues I reserve my right to approach the media regarding this matter, for which I have already been interviewed.

Ngā mihi,

Sam McDonald
