Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,

I am interested in knowing what process MPI and/or its predecessor agencies have undertaken in finding that Kontiki-type fishing systems are acceptable for recreational use in New Zealand.

These systems are listed under the set line rules on this MPI webpage: https://www.fisheries.govt.nz/travel-and.... An example is the Conrad Meier Fish Harvester, as advertised here: https://tvshop.co.nz/products/fish-harve....

Please provide all relevant internal discussion papers and similar documents that show the process by which you have assessed Kontikis and deemed them legal as a recreational fishing method.
