Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I submit the following questions in accordance with the Official Information Act.

I understand that when Immigration NZ processes residence visa applications in the partnership category, that the ministry may investigate whether the partnership is genuine, as opposed to a convenience for immigration purposes.

(1) Can this include investigations into conjugal relations (or related living arrangements, such as sharing a bed) in which the partners have engaged, or intend to engage in?

(2) If "yes", what policies and procedures does Immigration NZ have to ensure that partners in a genuine asexual relationship (regardless of gender(s) involved) are not unfairly discriminated against?

With regard to OIA 12(1), I am a New Zealand citizen resident in New Zealand.
