Photos of Kea killed by 1080 on 4-9-2011

H Enderby made this Official Information request to Department of Conservation

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for H Enderby to read a recent response and update the status.

From: H Enderby

Hello Department of Conservation,

I note in an OIA response entitled "Symptoms of the Kea DOC has killed with 1080 poison" made on this FYI site by T Benseman, that you admit to killing protected native Kea at a place called Okarito on the 4th of September 2011. Please send me photos of these Kea and photos of the necropsy they went thru where you note "intensely green stained vomitus" . Please also tell me what contractor and air operator (their full legal names) spread the 1080 poison and which DOC person (their full legal name) signed off and approved the spreading of this poisoned food to the kea.

You seem to be concerned about how official 1080 information will be used so I will tell you now that I want this information to prosecute you in a civil case for killing our native treasures. I note that in some of your studies you have killed 77% of the kea tagged and the website www.1080science.co.nz states it is likely that less than 1000 of these protected birds are left. This is completely unacceptable and you need to be stopped. Do NOT send me bogus propaganda where you state kea numbers have increased when you have zero data to prove this.

"Thank you",

Hannah Enderby
