[IN CONFIDENCE RELEASE EXTERNAL]
Dear Dolly
I apologise for the delay in responding to your query on whether New
Zealanders can claim their Australian Superannuation.
The trans-Tasman Retirement Savings Portability Arrangement came into
effect on 1 July 2013 and allows for the transfer of retirement savings
between complying Australian superannuation schemes and New Zealand
KiwiSaver schemes. The arrangement is aimed at supporting the goal of
creating a single retirement savings market between Australia and New
Zealand.
You will need to contact your KiwiSaver provider for information on
transferring funds. If you are unsure how to contact your scheme provider,
you can telephone Inland Revenue on 0800KIWISAVER (0800 549 472).
I trust this information is of assistance.
Yours sincerely
Anne Morrow
Officer Inland Revenue
