Dear Allen

I refer to your email of 2 May where you asked a series of questions
regarding a fire on Wanaka's Mt Aplha on 3 January 2018.

The CAA does not have any record of this incident.   My colleague has
searched our data base and has  not been able to locate anything involving
the nearest point of Wanaka, location "alpha" or any brief description
including "fire" for the first half of January 2018.

The CAA are refusing your request under sections 18(e) and (g) of the
Official Information Act 1982 as the documents alleged to contain the
information requested do not exist and the information requested is not
held by the CAA.

You have the right to seek a review of our decision by the Ombudsman.
Details on how to make a complaint can be found at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with us, feel free to
contact me by email [2][CAA request email] or by mobile (027) 225 7700.

Kind regards

Dear Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand,

thank you for your reply

but, how strange!

the first, and only, prosecution under the 'New Rules' for drone flying, ex late 2015
up to 9 helicopters affected
and you have no idea...

I suggest a bit of inter-agency communication is called for...
