    Dear Mr Preston

I refer to your three requests dated 16 April 2019 for all communication,
emails, notes from phone calls and recollections of interactions between
MBIE and Dave Brunsdon, Hugh Cowan or Graeme Beattie between 02 March 2018
 and 30 May 2018.

An initial search of MBIE’s systems has yielded a substantial number of
documents potentially in scope of the requests. It would assist MBIE to
collate the response efficiently if you would agree to refine the scope of
your requests. Is there a specific subject matter you are searching for,
or any keywords which MBIE can use to assist with its search?

In order for the Ministry to be able to reply to your request in a timely
manner consistent with our obligations under the Act, we ask that you
 confirm as soon as possible.

Depending on your response, we may consider extending the timeframe,
fixing a charge, or refusing the request under section 18(f) of the Act,
as responding to your request, as it stands, would require substantial
 collation and research.

Kind regards
