Tçnâ koe Dr Adam Ward
Thank you for your email received 12 April 2019 under the Official
Information Act 1982.
The Ministry publishes quarterly Benefit Fact Sheets on the Ministry’s
website here:
[1]https://www.msd.govt.nz/about-msd-and-ou....
These Fact Sheets contain information about beneficaries broken down in
various ways, including by Territorial Authority and by Service Centre are
available on the above website.
While the Ministry has previously provided this type of information, it is
not standard reporting and requires additional work from the Ministry’s
analysts. It is also very likely that any data output would have a
significant amount of suppression as the numbers in some area units are
likely to be quite low. If you were to require this information, the
Ministry is likely to consider charging for the time required to complete
this task.
Please advise if you would like to proceed. Should you wish to discuss
your request with us over the phone, please provide us with a contact
phone number and a time to call that suits you.

Kia ora Adam
While the Ministry has previously provided this type of information, it is
not standard reporting and requires additional work from the Ministry’s
analysts. As such, with a repeat request for similar information, the
decision has been made to charge for the time required.
Our analysts have estimated that this work will take eight hours inclusive
of quality assessment. This works out to an approximate charge of $547.20.
This is based on the guidance from the Ombudsman available here:
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/system/paperclip/document_files/document_files/2227/original/charging_june_2017.pdf?1498813017.
Please advise if you would like to proceed. I am happy to discuss this
further by email or phone (04 916 3408).
