Health (including emails and texts) with any Health NZ staff member in the
week beginning 7 July 2025.
 

Please note that there is a substantial volume of communications exchanged
between press secretaries and  Health NZ on a daily and weekly basis
across a broad range of subjects.In order to provide information relevant
to your request for “all communications to or from any Press Secretary….”,
Health NZ would cuurrently need to divert personnel from their core duties
and allocate extra time to complete these tasks. The diversion of these
resources would impair Health NZ’s ability to carry out our other core
functions. 

 

To avoid refusing this part of your request under section 18(f) of the OIA
due to the substantial collation efforts needed, are you able to refine
down the scope of this part of the request? To provide information best
suited to your purposes you may wish to consider narrowing the scope of
your request to ask for information related to a specific topic or subject
matter.

 

I would be grateful if you could confirm if you are willing to refine the
request by the end of the day Tuesday 22 July . If we don’t hear from you,

Thank you for your email of 14 July 2025, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA):

 

“Please provide all communications to or from any Press Secretary for the
Minister of Health (including emails and texts) with any Health NZ staff
member in the week beginning 7 July 2025.”

 

Refined on the 24 July 2025 to: “…about the nurses strike action” for us
to collate the information in a manner that was feasible retrievable.

 

This email is to let you know that Health NZ needs more time to make a
decision on your request.

 

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 28 August 2025.

 

This extension is required because consultations are necessary to make a
decision on the request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.
