Frank T-F made this Official Information request to Commerce Commission

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Frank T-F to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Frank T-F

Dear Commerce Commission,

Under the Official Information Act 1982, I request the following information that may be held by the Commerce Commission in respect of its market study into personal banking services:

Data requested:

All advertised “carded” residential mortgage rates (sometimes called “standard” or “headline” rates) held for every registered New Zealand bank, and discretionary rates if that information is also held. Please include, for each bank, the full schedule of tenors, such as—but not limited to—floating, 6-month, and fixed terms of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 10 years.

Time period:

From the earliest month-end for which the information is held through to the most recent month-end available at the time this request is processed.

Format:

A single comma-separated values (CSV) file, or a set of CSVs, with each record containing at least:

- Date (ISO 8601 format)
- Bank identifier (short name or registration ID)
- Product tenor (e.g., “1 yr fixed”)
- Advertised carded interest rate (% p.a., as originally supplied)

Context / purpose:

I am building a research database to analyse trends in advertised retail mortgage pricing across the New Zealand banking sector.

Administrative matters:

If any part of the requested information is withheld, please specify the applicable section(s) of the Act and the reason(s).

If the request is likely to be refused under s 18(f) on grounds of substantial collation or research, I would welcome the opportunity to refine the request or accept the information in a form readily extractable from your systems.

I am a New Zealand citizen and currently residing in New Zealand.

I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your response.

Ngā mihi nui,

Frank T-F
