Dear New Zealand Police,

I'm still waiting on an answer to my Official Information Request.

I would like to know how many officers, what units they were from, and how much was spent on the police precence at the National Party conference in Auckland on 21/22 July.

Releasing the number of police would compromise future security? The only way I can think that would be the case is if there were plain-clothes police who were in the crowd, who they don't want the presence of revealed.

Another fine example of police being clueless about the OIA. "Operational sensitivity" is not a reason to withhold information (however, "maintenance of the law" is, and may apply here. OTOH, would releasing ordinary police numbers really compromise the prevention of future offences? I very much doubt it)
