S. Martin made this Official Information request to University of Auckland

The request was refused by University of Auckland.

From: S. Martin

Dear University of Auckland,

Since the introduction of MUrbPlan(Prof)/MUrbDes until 2018 (not inclusive of students from the academic year of 2019):

1. During either in-class or individual meetings, what information was normally given to MUrbPlan(Prof) students to encourage their enrolment in MUrbDes?

2. MUrbDes was a replacement for MArch in Urban Design. Considering the architectural foundation, please provide evidence showing the suitability of MUrbDes for MUrbPlan(Prof) students.

3. Please verify the level of satisfaction among MUrbPlan(Prof) students who have undertaken MUrbDes.

Yours faithfully,

S. Martin

Dear T. Samuels/S. Martin

The University's response to your requests of 17 February 2019 follows:

Since the introduction of MUrbPlan(Prof)/MUrbDes until 2018 (not inclusive of students from the academic year of 2019):

1. During either in-class or individual meetings, what information was normally given to MUrbPlan(Prof) students to encourage their enrolment in MUrbDes?

Providing the information requested would require substantial collation or research and neither extending the time limit for the response nor imposing a charge would enable the request to be granted. Please advise if you wish to amend the request. If you do not wish to amend the request it is likely we will refuse it under s 18(f) of the OIA.

2. MUrbDes was a replacement for MArch in Urban Design. Considering the architectural foundation, please provide evidence showing the suitability of MUrbDes for MUrbPlan(Prof) students.

The OIA is not a mechanism that can be used to require agencies to generate justifications or explanations in relation to a matter of interest to the requester.

3. Please verify the level of satisfaction among MUrbPlan(Prof) students who have undertaken MUrbDes

Under s 12(2) of the OIA, requests must specify the official information requested with due particularity. If you wish to request information under the OIA you must specify what information you are requesting.

You have the right to make a complaint about this response to an Ombudsman.

Yours sincerely
Rebecca Ewert
