MSD's Policy on approving caregivers with criminal history.

Leah Trass made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development

The request was partially successful.

From: Leah Trass

Dear Ministry of Social Development,

I have several questions to ask:

What is the MSD's policy on approving caregivers with criminal history or history of having CYFS involvement.

What is the difference used in supporting parents/caregivers with the same history. What formula do you use for both assessments?

What is the period of time where past criminal convictions are classed as 'historical' What types of criminal actions are considered of no importance (no risk of future abuse) and what are considered possible approval. What crimes/abuse history are no approval considered. Or little chance of approval (high risk of abuse).

Yours faithfully,

Leigh Bailllie
