Kia ora Ministry of Health,

Please provide the total amount of funding allocated specifically for queer and gender diverse and intersex* people per year for the last ten years, as well as the percentage value of total funding from the Ministry of Health pool this amounts to.

Please advise if any funding from Ministry of Health for queer and gender diverse and intersex people is specifically dedicated to Māori, including the total value of this per year for the last ten years.

Please advise if any funding from Ministry of Health for queer and gender diverse and intersex people is specifically dedicated to children (under 12), and young people (under 25), including the total value of this per year for the last ten years.

Please also advise if any funding from Ministry of Health for queer and gender diverse and intersex people is specifically dedicated to children (under 12), and young people (under 25) who are Māori. Please include the total value of this funding per year for the last ten years.

If possible, please break this information down into funding that is specifically for mental health, for gender affirming healthcare for gender diverse people (including but not limited to: Hormone Replacement Therapy, Gender Reassignment Surgery, or Breast Augmentation Surgery), and for other health needs.

* Queer and gender diverse people includes but is not limited to: people who are non-heterosexual (for example, takatāpui; lesbian; gay; bisexual; pansexual; queer; asexual), and/or non-cisgender (transgender women or men; fakaleiti; fa'afafine; nonbinary people; takatāpui people; whakawahine; tangata ira tane; akava'ine; agender people). Intersex people refers to people who have non-binary genetic or reproductive characteristics.

Your request has been logged and you can expect a reply no later than 11
July 2018 as required under the Official Information Act 1982.

Please note that a working day is defined in the Act as ‘any day of the
week other than a Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day,
Labour Day, the Sovereigns birthday, Waitangi Day and a day in the period
commencing 25 December in any year and ending 15 January in the following
year.

If a large amount of information has been requested or if the Ministry
needs to consult in order to make a decision, we may need to extend this
date (this is provided for in section 15A of the Act).  We will advise you
if such an extension is necessary.
