Dear Auckland Council

can I please ask in regard to the Scott Point precinct rule below,

"4.3.1 Garages
Purpose: to ensure garages are not a dominant feature of the streetscape.
2. Garages must be set back at least 1m from the front façade of the ground floor of a dwelling."

first of all which constitute the front facade in this instance? is it all of the wall space except the garage? in that case, then, would not the wall space around ground rule create a thin strip of the wall around the garage door?

or as long as some part of the ground floor facade (often facade is modulated) is positioned 1m ahead of the garage door then the rule is deemed to be fulfilled? can any part of the front facade be positioned behind the garage door, such as a doorway?

thank you very much

Yours faithfully,

Alex Han
