Zane Collins made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was successful.

From: Zane Collins

Dear New Zealand Police,

I would like to request the police manual explaining about section 50 of the DV ACT 1995 and what is the criteria that constables are able to determine that they have a 'Good cause' to arrest a suspect, like what evidence needed and more details about the arrest and procedures.

50) Power to arrest for breach of protection order

Where a protection order is in force, any constable may arrest,
without warrant, any person who the constable has good cause
to suspect has—
(a) contravened the protection order; or
(b) failed to comply with any condition of the protection
order

Yours faithfully,

Zane Collins
