Financial Impact Assessment report on change in amount of 2MAP used in Manuka HOney Scientific definition and scientific reasoning for the change

John Hill made this Official Information request to Ministry for Primary Industries

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry for Primary Industries should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: John Hill

Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,

Did MPI do a financial impact assessment on manufacturers and beekeepers when the marker used in MPI Manuka Honey science program 2'-methoxyacetophenone was changed from 1mg/kg to 5mg/kg . Where they aware that they would change over 50% of the existing classifications?
What is the scientific justification for doing so? Please supply all emails, analysis , reports that provides the justification
What is the subsequent predictive score of the new marker set to predict the apparent manuka classification supplied by beekeepers to the library.

Yours faithfully,

John Hill
