Hospital bed-days occupied by patients with diabetes

Antony Andrews made this Official Information request to Health Quality and Safety Commission

The request was successful.

From: Antony Andrews

Dear Health Quality and Safety Commission,

I refer to your publication : A Window on the Quality of New Zealand’s Health Care, available online on http://www.hqsc.govt.nz/assets/Health-Qu...

The report shows that the percentage of hospital bed-days occupied by patients with diabetes increased from 9 to 14 percent between 2011 and 2013.

I therefore, would like to request under Official information act to provide me the percentage of hospital bed-days occupied by patients with diabetes for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

I trust you will provide this information as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,

Antony Andrews

Dear Mr Andrews,

Thank you for your request. The information you seek for 2014 and 2015 is
17.01% and 18.27% respectively. You can find this on our Atlas of
Healthcare Variation as follows:

1.      Visit
[1]https://www.hqsc.govt.nz/assets/Health-Q...

2.      In the Select Indicators field, select indicator 9 and ‘Total by
year, percent’ and the relevant year

3.      With the mouse, hover over the relevant data point in the chart,
bottom right, for the national rate.

Note that this current dataset only goes up to 2015. We anticipate
updating the published data to include the 2016 total by Christmas, so we
suggest you check the website again in mid- to late December.

Kind regards

Ethan Tucker
