Morning Report Greetings, Mihis etc used by On Air RNZ Staff - OIA Request

Ken Martin made this Official Information request to Radio New Zealand Limited

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Radio New Zealand Limited should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Dear RNZ

Morena

Under the OIA act and amendments, are there languages other than NZ Maori in the numerous greetings, Mihis etc broadcast in Morning Report?

For instance, Samoan, Cook Island Maori, Tokelauan, Niuean, Tongan, Fijian. Are Cantonese, Mandarin and Hindi used? I mention the latter three as NZ’s ethnic mix is changing rapidly. If they are not included, their inclusion would add to RNZ’s excellent cultural sensitivity.

Whatever languages are used, what do they say in English? I am monolingual.
