The request was successful.

Dear Immigration New Zealand (Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment)
Re: Immigration NZ - Security questions for residence applications/and Chinese Nationals in 1999
Mr Jian Yang is a member of Parliament who moved to New Zealand in 1999 (unknown date). As you are aware declarations that he has made to Govt. Departments in relation to his work experience and military experience are currently of public interest with OIA's pending.
This OIA is not in relation to his personal details, but is in regards to the questions on the Immigration application forms in place at the point in time that he applied for residence.
I understand that Immigration New Zealand currently ask applicants applying for Residence if they have any previous military or intelligence service (Additional Details Form).
The old immigration operational manual (26/07/1999) also refers to a "Supplementary Application Form for Chinese Visitors, Students and Workers"
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanua...
Just to be clear, I am not requesting a copy of any of Jian Yang's details or his declarations in regards to any documentation. My request is in relation to the official documents and questions in place at the time.
Can you please provide the following:
1. A copy of any and all questions relating to "military experience" "intelligence experience" and "character" that would have been on a Residence application form at the time Mr Jian Yang applied for residence. If you have a full Residence application form showing all questions it contained in entirety including terms/declarations such as implication of providing false/misleading or withholding information, this would be more helpful.
2. A copy of the "Supplementary application form for Chinese Visitors, Students and Workers" form or any other form that was in place at the time of Jian Yang's application.
3. A copy of an additional details form or any similar form that was in place at the time. Any other security or character information, forms, or questions that were required to be completed by applicants, or Chinese Nationals, at the time of his application.
Appreciate your assistance with this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Tim Henderson
