Ryan S made this Official Information request to Careers New Zealand

The request was successful.

From: Ryan S

Dear Careers New Zealand,

I was looking at my potential salary on your website recently and I noted that it was based off a 2015 source.

How frequently do you update the expected salary for each job listed on your website?

How do you determine the jobs opportunity/availability for the role in New Zealand?

How frequently is this updated?

Yours faithfully,

Ryan S

Hi Ryan

Thank you for your enquiry about how we update salary and job information
on the [1]jobs database at careers.govt.nz

We update the expected salary for each job every 18-24 months, depending
on how rapidly salaries move. The salaries for some jobs, such as those in
the Information Technology (IT) industry change frequently – other jobs do
not.

In response to your question on how we determine the opportunities and
availability of each job in New Zealand, we do this by consulting the
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and we regularly
speak to industry bodies and recruitment agencies. Our aim is to update
all job information on the jobs database every 18-24 months.

If you are interested in the salary information for a specific job on the
jobs database, you can [2]contact us for an indication of when the
information is likely to be updated.

MBIE also supplies information on labour supply and
demand in over 100 occupations in New Zealand. The app outlines how to
enter each role, how many are studying in related fields, how many are
employed, and what the average incomes are. [3]Find out more here

Salary information for students
If you are a current student or are thinking about studying a particular
qualification, there are two sources of information you can use to find
out your potential earnings after graduating:

Find KIS information on the courses database

Go to the [4]courses database and select the Location, Qualification type
and Study field of your chosen qualification. You will find a tab called
‘Key Information for Students’ - [5]see an example here. This information
will show you national graduate outcomes (including earnings) for students
who completed qualifications at the same level and in the same subject
area, three years after completion.

Explore the Employment Outcomes of Tertiary Education data

You can also explore the Employment Outcomes of Tertiary Education data,
which shows the employment status and earnings of graduates from
individual tertiary institutions. [6]You can access this information here

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact
[7][email address]

Kind regards
