Lyttelton - fishing law

Cody C made this Official Information request to Department of Conservation

The request was successful.

From: Cody C

Dear Department of Conservation,

Is it lawful to take fish or other marine life from the Lyttelton Harbour area (including for personal use from a wharf, such as the one at Naval Point)?

I note that due to its location this may be covered by the Marine Reserves Act 1971 which would prohibit all "fishing, netting, taking or killing of marine life".

Yours faithfully,

Cody C
