Dear New Zealand Fire Service Commission,
This is a request under the Official Information Act.
This request relates to a proposed development at Customs Street East, Auckland. A staged building consent application was lodged with Auckland Council on 20 December 2016. Council’s building consent number is B/2016/10829/2. Council referred this to the NZFS Engineering Unit in March 2017.
Prior to that, i.e. from 4 August 2015 NZFS had been engaged in what is known as the ‘Fire Engineering Brief’ (FEB) process.
I am the fire engineer for the proposed development. I request all internal and external communications, in relation to both the FEB process and the building consent application, between employees and contractors of NZFS, and employees and contractors of Auckland Council in the first instance, and employees or contractors Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in the second instance.
My request relates to the period from 4 August 2015 to the present.

Dear Louise,
Being mindful of the timeframe, if it assists, I can confirm that I am only interested in correspondences and meeting minutes involving staff or contractors of NZFS, Auckland Council and MBIE (the Ministry). I do not need building consent 'design documentation' such as; reports, drawings and specifications. I have these and it wouldn't be appropriate for them to be placed in the public domain. I am happy to trust NZFS judgement in differentiating between what is correspondence and what is 'design documentation'.

I note the advice that further steps are being taken to double-check with NZFS personnel. I encourage this because I have been made aware of other correspondences, i.e. not included in this response.
I assume it is best that I leave this request open / unresolved until such time as the exercise is completed, but I appreciate that NZFS have substantively (if not completely) met the request.
