Sentencing outcome for people held on remand

Dear Ministry of Justice,

I am interested in the relationship between being held on remand and being sentenced to imprisonment, following conviction.

Please provide me with the following information:
- Broken down by year since 2000, please release the total number of people who were sentenced to imprisonment.
- Broken down by year since 2000, please release the total number of people who were sentenced to imprisonment who had previously been held on remand without conviction during the proceedings for the offending for which they were imprisoned.
- Broken down by year since 2000, please release the total number of people who were found not guilty of an offence for which they had been held on remand without conviction.
- Broken down by year since 2000, please release the total number of people who were found guilty of an offence for which they had been held on remand without conviction.
- Broken down by year since 2000, please release the total number of people who were held on remand without conviction and who were not sentenced to imprisonment following that period of remand.

In answer to Q1, Statistics New Zeland has a pivot table available for sentencing data (including imprisonment) at http://nzdotstat.stats.govt.nz/wbos/Inde.... The table allows breakdowns by offence category, age, gender and ethnicity as well.
