Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,

Can you please provide the following information on the number of pets left alone during the Christmas/New Year period when owners go away.

How many domestic pets are abandoned in homes, cars or the like over the Christmas and New Year period nationwide? Please provide info from 2013-2016 by year.

Can you also please break this down by animal type?

The number of domestic pets found dead in their owner's homes or cars over Christmas and New Year nationwide after being left? Please provide info from 2013-2016 by year.

How many domestic pets were taken to the SPCA in December 2013, 2014, 2015 due to abondonment in houses, cars or the like?
