Dear Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children,
It is understand that PCSS (Permanent Caregiver Support Services) in Turuki Health Care are proposing to only provide funding to enable tamariki placed permanently with persons other than biological parents to visit their whanau up to four times a year. Previously this was based on a needs assessment of the tamariki.
Please provide all correspondence (emails, documents, advice, briefings to Minister etc) regarding the proposal by Turuki Health Care to only fund up to four visits to biological whanau for tamariki who are being placed in permanent care (PCSS) with persons other than their biological parents.
Please provide all information (correspondence and briefings to Ministers , and internal briefs and correspondence to management and Turuki Health Centre) regarding the impact of these changes on whanau connections and tamariki in maintaining whanau connections.
Please provide all information held on why the funding cuts are considered necessary/sought. Including Oranga tamariki position on the changes.
Yours faithfully,
Joyce
