Dear Auckland Council,

Has Auckland Council entered into any discussions/negotiations with the
proposed Channel Infrastructure Marsden Point energy precinct to supply
the plant with Auckland's mixed solid waste (or any portion/specified
stream) as fuel for the Waste to Energy plant?

Other companies involved in this project include Fortescue, Kent PLC, and
the Seadra Consortium.

Please find below information pertaining to your request prepared by our
Waste Solutions department.  
 
Staff from Waste
Solutions have not entered any recent discussions or negotiations with
representatives from the companies you list in your enquiry in relation
to a proposed energy precinct at Marsden Point. Of note, five years ago
in 2021, staff were contacted by a representative from the
company Seadra and meetings were held to hear about the business
and its proposed projects at which time staff made suggestions
for Seadra to make contact with Watercare Services Ltd also.  
 
Decisions relating to the information that is being released to you were
made by Justine Haves, General Manager Waste Solutions.
 
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to
your request, you have the right by way of complaint, under section 27(3)
of the LGOIMA, to apply to the Ombudsman to seek an investigation and
review of the decision.
