Request for Information: Eligibility to Apply Offshore for a Post-study Work Visa and Impact of an Unsuccessful Refugee/Protection Claim
Laura made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Laura to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Laura
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
I am writing to request information under the Official Information Act 1982.
A person originally studied in New Zealand as an international student and later lodged a refugee/protection claim in New Zealand. The claim was declined, and the subsequent appeal was also unsuccessful. If the person is currently outside New Zealand:
Can the person still lodge an application for a Post-study Work Visa from outside New Zealand?
Could the fact that the refugee/protection claim and the subsequent appeal were unsuccessful be a reason for the Post-study Work Visa application to be declined when it is assessed?
Yours faithfully,
Laura
