Under the Official Information Act 1982, I respectfully request the following information relating to the governance and oversight of mental health and addiction service policies in the Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty region.
1. What mechanisms are in place at the Ministerial or central agency level to ensure that Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty maintains up-to-date clinical and operational policies for mental health and addiction services?
2. Has the Minister been made aware that a number of key mental health and addiction policies in Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty are collectively overdue for review by several decades? If so, what is the Minister’s view on the implications of this for service quality, safety, equity, and alignment with current legislation and national strategy?
3. Has the Minister received any briefings, reports or internal advice regarding the status or risks associated with outdated mental health and addiction policies in Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty?
4. Is there a national process underway—or planned—to review, update, or harmonise regional policies
This request is made in the context of significant concern about the MHA policy set which are collectively more than 30 years overdue for review.
