Dear Marlborough District Council,

I am requesting information about any involvement by the Council in maintaining or funding the Wairau–Hanmer Springs Hydro Road (Rainbow Road).
Please provide:
1 Any funding, maintenance, or emergency works undertaken or contributed to by the Council on this road between 2015 and 2025.
2 Any agreements, correspondence, or cost-sharing arrangements with Rainbow Station Ltd, Transpower NZ Ltd, or the Department of Conservation relating to access or upkeep of this road.
3 Any internal Council reports, memos, or meeting minutes that discuss responsibility for the upkeep of the Wairau–Hanmer Springs Hydro Road or Rainbow Road.
I am making this request under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Dear Mrs Thomas
 
I refer to your email of 23 October and indicate as follows:
 

* Council maintains Rainbow Road from SH63 to the Rainbow ski field
turnoff. Beyond that point Council has not provided any maintenance,
funding or emergency works.

 

* The indication from NZTA is that for general maintenance and
operations of Rainbow Road maintained by Council between the period
2015 to October 2025 the amount is $591,513.89

 

* Set out below copy of minute P16/17.172 from the Assets and Services
Committee 24 November 2016 meeting.

 
 
This completes the request based on the information available within
Council.
