Kia ora again Rachel

Further to my email this morning, I have been asked by the workgroup responding to your request to seek clarification and refinement of the request.

Re clarification – police interpret your request to be relating to changes to training and standards for "recruits" not to “existing police officers" completing further training.

Re timeframe - the period of ten years of information would be a refusal under section 18(f) of the OIA, due to substantial manual collation and research, however Police can provide this information for the last two years.

Please advise if the above is acceptable to you as soon as you are able, then we can progress responding to your request.

Ngâ mihi, Michelle
Advisor - Police National Headquarters

I don't believe we have received a response from you to my email on Tuesday, so in the interest of getting this request underway, Police will proceed on the basis that we interpret your request to be relating to changes to training and standards for "recruits", for the last two calendar years.

Kia ora Rachel

I refer to your request below. I have been asked to advise you that Police requires an extension of time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). Specifically, 15A(1)(b), consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

Police requires until 8 October 2025 to provide a substantive response to your request, however we are endeavouring to provide this to you as soon as possible.

You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about this extension. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Ngâ mihi
Dylan
