Information regarding enrolment and funding in Aotearoa Charter Schools in 2025
Elliot Pilmore made this Official Information request to Charter School Agency
Currently waiting for a response from Charter School Agency, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).
From: Elliot Pilmore
Dear Charter School Agency,
Under the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, I am formally requesting the following pieces of information:
1. A breakdown of the number of students currently enrolled in each charter school in Aotearoa New Zealand, separated by primary and secondary levels.
2. The total amount of government funding allocated to each of these schools to date.
This information is essential for the public evaluation of the performance and cost-effectiveness of charter schools, particularly given their reliance on public funds.
Should it not be possible to provide the detailed school-by-school data outlined above, I request, at a minimum:
1. The total number of students currently enrolled in charter schools nationwide, with a breakdown by primary and secondary education sector.
2. The total amount of public funding provided to charter schools, similarly broken down by primary and secondary levels.
If any part of this request is refused, I require a clear and specific explanation for the refusal, including the legal grounds under the Official Information Act for withholding this information. Given that this data relates to institutions funded by taxpayers, transparency is both expected and necessary.
I look forward to your response within the statutory timeframe.
Yours faithfully,
Elliot Pilmore
