Suicide statistics

Paul Lynch made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

The request was successful.

From: Paul Lynch

Dear Ministry of Health,
I am working on a book to raise awareness to the issues surrounding suicide and would like to know the following:
The year isn't really important but the most recent stats available would be good.

1:Statistics that show how many people died by suicide after having been diagnosed with a mental illness vs those who had not.

2:Suicides outside the mental health system vs suicides inside the mental health system.

3:The number of suicides where the deceased had alcohol and/or drugs in their system.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Lynch
