Dear UoO - Official Information Act,
Thank you for your recent response regarding the 2024 and 2025 BDS Graduate General category statistics.
While I understand the decision to withhold the 2025 minimum GPA due to fewer than five successful applicants, I’m unclear why the maximum GPA of unsuccessful applicants is also withheld. The number of unsuccessful applicants is much higher than five, so releasing the highest non-offer GPA should not pose a privacy risk.
Yours sincerely,
Hakuna Matata

Thank you for your email below.
To clarify, the information you have requested regarding unsuccessful applications is not contained in existing reports held by the University. On past occasions where we may have provided this information, we did so because it was incidental to the research and collation of other data necessary for University purposes. Detailed statistical analysis of applications can only be undertaken by a small team within the University applying specialised and complex skills. Accordingly, we decline to provide the requested information as the information would need to be created, and is not held, under section 18(g) of the Act.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Ngā mihi
Bill
