OIA Request Delays and Communication Issues
Indigo Woods made this Official Information request to University of Auckland
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Indigo Woods to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Indigo Woods
Dear University of Auckland,
Under the Official Information Act 1982, I am requesting the following information from the University of Auckland:
1. The number of Official Information Act requests received by the University between 1 January 2024 and 1 January 2025.
2. The number of those requests that were extended under section 15A of the Act.
3. If reasonably retrievable, the number of OIA requests during that period where delays were attributed to missed, lost, or misdirected emails (incoming or outgoing).
4. Any internal guidance, policies, or procedures the University follows when determining whether to apply delays or extensions to OIA requests, under section 15A.
If question 3 cannot be answered without substantial collation, it is okay to forgo it — I would still appreciate a response to the remaining items.
Please provide the information in a simple, searchable format such as a Word document or spreadsheet.
Ngā mihi,
Indigo Woods

Dear Indigo,
I refer to your request of 20 April 2025. The University's response
follows.
"1. The number of Official Information Act requests received by the
University between 1 January 2024 and 1 January 2025.”
The University received 306 requests for official information (including
requests from other agencies for consultation on responses under the
Official Information Act 1982) between 1 January 2024 and 1 January 2025
which were managed formally under the Official Information Act.
“2. The number of those requests that were extended under section 15A of
the Act.”
69.
“3. If reasonably retrievable, the number of OIA requests during that
period where delays were attributed to missed, lost, or misdirected emails
(incoming or outgoing).”
The University does not hold this statistic.
4. Any internal guidance, policies, or procedures the University follows
when determining whether to apply delays or extensions to OIA requests,
under section 15A."
The University’s policy is to comply with the Official Information Act
1982.
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt
